Brian Beckman

Suncoast Sierra Club

Bryan is currently a volunteer with Suncoast Sierra, leading the Pinellas Ready for 100 campaign.  In 2018, he led the Largo Ready for 100 campaign, which resulted in a city resolution to achieve 100% renewable energy by 2035. For more information click --> Sierra Club Ready for 100.

"Ready For 100 is a national movement of people working to inspire our leaders to embrace a vision of healthier communities powered with 100% clean, renewable energy. We are asking mayors, CEOs, religious leaders, principals, civic and community leaders, parents and students to commit to solutions that help us achieve 100% clean, renewable, and just energy across the United States by the year 2050."

Some interesting information about my home and me:
  • I live in a 3 bedroom, 3 story townhouse, 2100 sq ft, and belong to an HOA.  My home is the first in our HOA to get solar.
  • My solar system covers all my home energy needs.  I have a NET ZERO home.  I pay $10.57 every month.  I do not use natural gas.  The solar system increased the value of my home if/when I would go to sell my home.
  • My primary car is an all-electric, Chevy Bolt.   Range is 250-300 miles on a full charge.  Saves me $1,000-1,500 per year on gas.
  • I took some energy efficiency steps last year including installing radiant barrier in my attic, adding more insulation in my attic, and installing a heat pump/hybrid water heater.  All combined have reduced our energy bill 30-40%, before installing solar.

He is a precinct captain in District 66, a member of the NAACP, and League of Women Voters.

Bryan is recently retired from Kraft Foods/Mondelez International, where he was responsible for global logistics information systems.

He also enjoys spending much of his time volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, and helping non-profits, churches, and other organizations save energy, money, and lessen their collective impact on the environment.

Coachman on campus Of St Pete College), Clearwater

11:30-1:30 pm

Barbara Scott is originally from New Orleans, Louisiana,
and has lived in Florida for over thirty years.
My parents are from the Cayman Islands and the exposure
to Caribbean and Creole cuisines as a child led to my love
of cooking. I was a chef for over twenty years. I had
always considered myself a good Democrat because I
always voted but due to my insanely busy work schedule, I
did not have the time to really get involved with the
Democratic Party. On November 8, 2016, I had gathered
with friends for what was to be a celebration of the election
of the first female President. As the night progressed, the
celebration turned into feelings of anger, fear and general
disbelief. On November 10, 2016, I went into work and
resigned. I wanted to be more involved in the Democratic
Party and our community.
I served as the chair for House District 67 and became the
Pinellas county chair in December 2018. I look forward to
working with all of you to get Democrats elected, protect
our Democracy and keep the country moving toward our
ultimate mission statement.....liberty and justice for all.
